In September, Nicole Suydam and Mark Lowry wrote a story in the Orange County Register that explains how food insecurity is an ongoing issue here locally. One in 6 kids and one in 10 adults just aren’t getting enough food to live healthy lives. The Jewelry Box of Lake Forest team has been aware of this issue for some time, and every year, we run the Batteries for Birds campaign to make the situation better.
Batteries for Birds: 11/25 – 12/18: All Watch Battery Proceeds Go to South County Outreach
Your watch runs on a battery. Watch batteries are like any other battery: they wear out over time. Once a year, it’s a good idea to have your watch battery replaced, so it doesn’t fail you at the exact moment you need to check the time! The typical watch battery costs around $10. We’re donating all watch battery revenue collected between 11/25 to 12/16 to South County Outreach, who uses the funds to provide holiday meals to local families in need. If you’d like to donate more than the cost of your watch battery, we’ll be happy to pass those funds along as well; a $20 donation helps provide a full holiday meal for a family of 5.
Looking Good Begins with Feeling Great
This is the eleventh year we’ve been hosting Batteries for Birds at The Jewelry Box of Lake Forest. What began as a simple fundraiser has really become a recurring celebration of the community spirit we have here in Orange County.
There have been rough patches over the past decade foreveryone; this year has been no different. Yet consistently, we are there for each other, sharing what we can to make everyone’s holiday a little brighter.
Batteries for Birds makes a real difference.
Last year, we raised over $2,300 for South County Outreach.
This year, we hope to do more. A few minutes out of your day means you’ll be able to wear your watch with confidence AND know that you’ve helped a local family. Looking good is so much easier when you feel great. No appointment is necessary – stop in any time between 11/25 and 12/16 to participate!
